Recognition Self-Test Online

Is my need for recognition still healthy? This self-test helps you take a closer look and gain clarity about your situation.

It supports you in finding out whether your desire for recognition lies within a healthy range — or whether you may be developing an excessive craving for approval.

  • Do I spend too much time thinking about what others think of me?
  • Is my mood heavily dependent on how much recognition I receive?
  • Am I constantly seeking validation through likes or comments on social media?
  • Is my need for recognition still healthy?
  • Am I afraid of rejection or criticism?

Please note that this test does not replace a professional diagnosis. If you have health concerns or find the results worrying, please consult a specialist or psychotherapist.

Recognition Test Test: 11 Questions

All questions refer to the last 14 days. The answer options are scaled like a grading system — the first option counts as one point, the last as five. Choose one answer per question and click Evaluate Now at the end.

1. Do you often feel that your self-esteem depends on the recognition of others?

2. Do you find it difficult to accept criticism, even when it is well-intentioned?

3. Do you think you deserve more recognition than you receive?

4. Do you sometimes change your behaviour or opinion to be recognised by others?

5. Do you find it difficult to make decisions without seeking others' opinions?

6. Does the thought of being alone frighten you?

7. Do you feel that your self-esteem is strongly influenced by the recognition of others?

8. Do you actively seek opportunities to be acknowledged by others?

9. Do you often feel disappointed when you don't receive the recognition you expect?

10. When criticised, do you sometimes feel as if you have completely failed?

11. Do you feel that your achievements often go insufficiently acknowledged?

This online screening is not a diagnostic tool. Only a trained medical professional — such as a doctor, psychiatrist or psychotherapist — can advise you on the next steps.
