Test: Anorexia Nervosa

Do you ask yourself: "Do I have a disordered relationship with food and my body?", "Do I control my eating too strictly?" or "Do my thoughts constantly revolve around weight and calories?" These questions can point to problematic eating behaviour.

Possible warning signs can include:

  • intense preoccupation with weight and figure despite normal or low weight,
  • strict food rules and avoidance of certain foods,
  • social withdrawal, especially around shared meals,
  • excessive exercise despite exhaustion.

This test can help you recognise initial signs of a possible eating disorder. If an eating disorder is suspected, it is important to seek professional help.

Anorexia Test: 10 Questions

All questions refer to the last 14 days. The answer options are scaled like a grading system — the first option counts as one point, the last as five. Choose one answer per question and click Evaluate Now at the end.

1. Do you often feel that you weigh too much, even though others say you are slim?

2. Do you feel uncomfortable or guilty when you eat?

3. Does your weight strongly influence how you perceive yourself?

4. Do you make strict decisions about which foods you are allowed to eat?

5. Do you exercise a lot in order to control your weight?

6. Are you afraid of gaining weight or becoming fat?

7. Do you avoid eating with others?

8. Do you frequently check your weight by weighing yourself?

9. Do you plan your meals in advance to maintain or reduce your weight?

10. Do you have physical complaints — such as weakness, circulatory problems or feeling cold — connected to your eating?

This online screening is not a diagnostic tool. Only a trained medical professional — such as a doctor, psychiatrist or psychotherapist — can advise you on the next steps.
