Test: How Resilient Am I? (Resilience Test)

Problems, life crises, burdens, and setbacks are a fixed part of life. Whether and how well we cope with them depends on our inner resilience. People with high resilience manage to stay capable of action even in difficult times and emerge stronger from crises.

Hallmarks of high resilience include:

  • The ability to find solutions and stay capable of action even in crisis situations,
  • An optimistic outlook and faith in your own abilities,
  • The ability to accept support and to use social networks,
  • A constructive way of dealing with stress and demanding situations,
  • The capacity to learn from setbacks and come out of them stronger.

The good news: resilience is not an innate trait — it can be actively developed and strengthened. This test helps you assess your current resilience and identify areas in which you can build it further.

Resilience Test: 15 Questions

All questions refer to the last 14 days. The answer options are scaled like a grading system — the first option counts as one point, the last as five. Choose one answer per question and click Evaluate Now at the end.

1. Do you tend to immediately see difficulties when faced with new ideas, discouraging yourself or others as a result?

2. Do you often look at the future with worry, imagining everything that could go wrong?

3. Do you often feel helpless and as if you have little control over your life?

4. Do you find it hard to adapt to new or unfamiliar situations?

5. Do unjust or negative experiences ruin your entire day?

6. Do you often see things from the pessimistic side?

7. Do you tend to make smaller problems larger than they are?

8. Do you often get upset about things that you find unfair?

9. Does your satisfaction depend heavily on whether everything goes the way you want it to?

10. Do you see the glass as half-empty more often than half-full?

11. Are you overly hard on yourself when something does not work out?

12. In difficult situations, do you often struggle to stay calm and clear-headed?

13. Do you frequently feel sorry for yourself because others or life are treating you badly?

14. In crises, do you quickly become overwhelmed and panicked?

15. Do you find it hard to recover from failures or crises?

This online screening is not a diagnostic tool. Only a trained medical professional — such as a doctor, psychiatrist or psychotherapist — can advise you on the next steps.
