Test: Self-Compassion and Inner Attitude

Do you ask yourself: "Am I too hard on myself?", "How can I learn to treat myself more compassionately?" or "Why is it so difficult for me to forgive myself?" These questions matter, because self-compassion is a key to mental health and well-being.

Do you recognise yourself in these situations?

  • You are very self-critical and hold high standards for yourself?
  • You find it hard to forgive yourself when something does not go perfectly?
  • You treat yourself more harshly in difficult situations than you would treat others?
  • In moments of failure, you often feel isolated and alone with your problems?

This test helps you assess how pronounced your self-compassion is and which aspects you might want to strengthen.

Self-Compassion Test: 15 Questions

All questions refer to the last 14 days. The answer options are scaled like a grading system — the first option counts as one point, the last as five. Choose one answer per question and click Evaluate Now at the end.

1. Can you forgive yourself when you have made a mistake?

2. Do you accept your weaknesses just as much as your strengths?

3. Are you kind to yourself when you do not achieve something?

4. Do you quickly feel worthless when you fail?

5. Do you take time to attend to your own needs?

6. Do you comfort yourself when you are sad or disappointed?

7. Do you often compare yourself with others and feel inferior?

8. Do you allow yourself breaks when you are exhausted?

9. Do you speak to yourself internally with respect, even when something goes wrong?

10. Do you feel that you must always be perfect?

11. Can you treat yourself compassionately when you are sick or tired?

12. Do you accept that difficulties are part of life?

13. Do you often feel alone in your problems or burdens?

14. Can you see mistakes as learning opportunities rather than reasons to condemn yourself?

15. Do you give yourself the same care you would give a close friend?

This online screening is not a diagnostic tool. Only a trained medical professional — such as a doctor, psychiatrist or psychotherapist — can advise you on the next steps.
